The College of the Rockies Women's Avalanche volleyball team is excited to announce the signing of Masyn Whittingham, a 5-foot-8 outside hitter from Cranbrook, BC. Whittingham, currently a grade 12 student at Mount Baker Secondary, will join the team for the 2025-26 season.
"I am proud to be joining the Avalanche Women's Volleyball program for next season," said Whittingham. "I have been very fortunate to attend development camps and clinics under Coach Bryan's guidance over the past five years, and being able to continue to grow from his knowledge and passion for the game is so exciting. I can't wait to get started and be a part of the Avalanche family!"
Whittingham has had a successful volleyball career so far. She started playing with the East Kootenay Volleyball Club in U13, and by her U15 season, as an underaged member of the U16 team, found success in winning a Volleyball Alberta (VA) provincial title. She later joined the Fernie Volleyball Club, where the team achieved multiple successes, including competing at a Division 1 level in VA. She will finish her club career with the Canuck Volleyball Club in Calgary.
Coach Bryan is also excited to have Whittingham on the team. "We are so happy to be adding Masyn to our 2025-26 roster. Her volleyball development over the past five years has been super fun to watch. She has a strong understanding of the game and is learning how to be an effective scorer. Her excellent work ethic will contribute to her continued growth, and she fits perfectly with our team culture. Masyn is a strong student and is going to be a local fan favorite in the coming seasons."
While at COTR, Whittingham will study General Studies with a focus on sciences, planning to pursue a career in the medical field.
