The College of the Rockies women's Avalanche volleyball team is excited to announce the signing of Sloane Brodner, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter from Regina, Saskatchewan. Brodner is joining the team this season to continue her volleyball career in a competitive PACWEST league.
"I am very excited to join the Avalanche Women's Volleyball Program," said Brodner. "I've always admired this team's success and passion for the sport, and that has made me confident in my decision. I look forward to learning from head coach Bryan Fraser and continuing to grow as a player. I'm also excited to contribute to the team's ongoing success."
Brodner, who will be graduating from Campbell Collegiate in Regina, led her high school volleyball team, the Campbell Tartans, to an undefeated regular season in her senior year. She helped the team win gold in the RSHAA 5A City Final and earned multiple All-Star awards. Brodner is also a standout player with her club team, Sask Stealth, where she's entering her fourth year with the club. Last spring, she helped Sask Stealth earn a silver medal at the Sask Volleyball Provincials. In the summer she then went on to compete with Team Sask, helping them secure third place at the 2024 Volleyball Canada Cup. She will finish her club career with the Stealth 18U club team in Regina.
Coach Bryan Fraser has been following Brodner's progress for a while. "We've had Sloane on our radar ever since her older sister, Brooklyn, played for us before transferring to the UFV Cascades after a 2 year stint with us," Fraser said. "Sloane has a lot of experience in high-level volleyball and has played in many big games. We're excited to bring her athleticism, work ethic, and competitive drive to our team. Academically, she has clear goals and will fit well with our team's high academic standards."
Brodner will study Computer Systems Technology at the College of the Rockies while playing volleyball, combining her athletic talents with a strong academic focus.
