Women's Volleyball: Recruitment Class of 2024

Eloise Newsome

Cranbrook, BC

"We are thrilled to be adding Eloise to our 2024-25 roster," said coach Bryan Fraser. "Her volleyball development over the past few years has been fun to watch. She has a deep understanding of the game and shows a work ethic that will benefit her development and will add to our already high team expectations. She is a strong academically and is going to be a local fan favorite in the coming seasons."

 

Hannah Gray

Kelowna, BC

"Hannah attended our High-Performance Camp in August of 2022 and I was extremely impressed with everything she brought to the court," said coach Bryan Fraser. "She is a great teammate and very competitive. She really values a strong team connection which is something we're always working towards with the Avalanche. Technically, she is really sound and I'm looking forward to working with her to take her game to the next level. Hannah has a great volleyball IQ and I'm sure will adapt to post secondary level quickly. Academically she is stellar and will be joining a team full of other like-minded student-athletes."

 

Kayla Brasok

Calgary, AB

"Kayla has a ton of high-level experience playing the skilled position of middle blocker" said coach Bryan Fraser. "She truly understands the position and is always looking for ways to improve her development and knowledge of the game. Kayla is highly competitive and in terms of her character, she checks all the for what we're looking for in our recruits. She is an amazing teammate and academically she is highly motivated and passionate. We can't wait for our community to see what an excellent addition she is to our program!"

 

Maya Bowden

Prince Albert, SK

"I saw Maya playing for the first time at Nationals in May of 2023 in Calgary," said coach Bryan Fraser. "She was an impressive athlete both from a physical standpoint, but also in her ability to take over games and force her opponents to change how they wanted to play. She also attended our High-Performance Camp in August, and I was really impressed with how she interacted on the court with her fellow participants as well as her knowledge of the game. She is highly academic and very driven both in school and on the court. She will be a valuable member of our program and I'm excited to help her grow into a high-level player in the ever-competitive PACWEST league."

 

Olivia Harder

St-Pierre Jolys, MB

"We are super excited that Olivia decided to sign with us for next season." Said Coach Bryan Fraser. "She attended our High-Performance camp in August and was one of the top athletes during the camp. She works hard, has excellent fundamentals, and has a fun but competitive demeaner on the court. I'm excited to watch her develop into a post secondary athlete who can make an impact with her power and creativity. She has clear academic aspirations and is a perfect fit to join our program."

 

Stevie Friesen

Fernie, BC

"Stevie is an excellent addition to our 2024-2025 roster," said Bryan Fraser, Avalanche women's volleyball coach. "She has quality ball control and is keen to learn and develop into a post secondary libero. Her work ethic is second-to-none, and with her fantastic volleyball IQ, I have no doubt that she's going to become a top player in the PACWEST. Academically, I am thrilled to be adding yet another stellar student with big academic goals to our program."
