COTR men’s volleyball program signs 2-time Team Saskatchewan athlete

College of the Rockies' Avalanche men's volleyball program has gained some additional height for the 2025/26 academic season, signing 6'5" opposite Kolton Wildeman.

Wildeman currently attends Lloydminster Composite High School and plays with the Rustlers Volleyball Club in his hometown of Lloydminster. His young volleyball career has already earned him acknowledgements and awards, including being a 2-time Team Saskatchewan athlete, Lloydminster Composite High School Athlete of the Year, and men's senior volleyball MVP. He was also on the silver-medal winning team in the Niagara Falls Canada Cup 2023.

"Kolton is a great addition to our program to kick off our 2025 recruiting class," says coach Cisco Farrero.  "He's got a great build for the opposite position, a high volleyball IQ, and a fiery competitive nature that will serve him well at this level. We identified Kolton early in the process and his fast twitch style will suit him quite well in the PacWest. Kolton can't get enough volleyball. He's coming to us from the Rustlers club in Lloydminster, Alberta where he's getting great coaching and is one of those guys that's always looking to improve. Our business program at the College appealed to Kolton and he saw the opportunity to move West from the prairies to pursue post-secondary. I'm excited to have him in our gym."

Wildemann explains what drew him to Cranbrook and to the Avalanche.

"My comfort level with the coaching staff, along with the bachelor's degree in business convinced me College of the Rockies was the right place for me," he said.

College of the Rockies' Avalanche men's team is currently 4-0 in the 2024/25 season. They will travel to Vancouver to take on the Douglas College Royals November 8 and 9.
