Reece Clarke, Year 5, Libero

107.5 2DAY FM Athlete of the Week

5th-year libero Reece Clarke has been named the College of the Rockies Avalanche Men’s Volleyball Athlete of the Week after delivering two exceptional performances against the VIU Mariners in what marked the final home weekend of his collegiate career.

On Friday night, Clarke was outstanding defensively, finishing with 16 digs while passing an impressive 2.3 out of 3 on 41 serve-receive attempts. His ball control kept the Avalanche in system through long rallies, helping push the match to five sets before VIU ultimately claimed the win.

Clarke followed that up with another elite performance on Saturday, passing 2.6 out of 3 on 25 attempts and adding 8 more digs as the Avalanche responded with a strong 3–1 victory. His consistency and leadership stabilized the Avs’ backcourt and helped secure their 15th win of the season.

The weekend also carried special significance for Clarke, who officially set the all-time Avalanche record for sets played, appearing in 352 total sets over five seasons—a milestone that demonstrates his durability, professionalism, and long-term impact on the program.

Head Coach Cisco Farrero praised Clarke’s legacy and performance:
“For Reece to set the all-time Avalanche sets played record is special for myself and our program and it is a testament to the continued performance and commitment to his craft Reece has shown for the duration of his career. From the start of his time at COTR Reece has brought a professional mindset to our team and this weekend was one of his finest performances with two spectacular days of reception and defense against that tough VIU team.”
