COTR AV’s Sign Middle Blocker from Calgary

College of the Rockies women's volleyball program is pleased to announce the signing of Kayla Brasok Calgary, Alberta for the 2024/25 season.

"After meeting with Coach Fraser and spending time with the team, something about this feels so right," Brasok said. "I am so excited to join the team next year, to continue to grow as a player, and be part of the Avalanche family."

Brasok, a 6 ft Middle Blocker, started her volleyball career with the Calgary-based Stryker Sports Volleyball Development organization before moving on to the ACE Volleyball Club, and then the Jr. Dinos Volleyball Club. It was during her three years with the Dino's, where she named captain for two seasons, that Brasok began winning and placing in several tournaments.

In 2023, Brasok participated in the Young Fitness Elite summer high performance series and was awarded the YF Award. She will finish her club career this year with The West Volleyball Club in Calgary.  

"Kayla has a ton of high-level experience playing the skilled position of middle blocker" said coach Bryan Fraser. "She truly understands the position and is always looking for ways to improve her development and knowledge of the game. Kayla is highly competitive and in terms of her character, she checks all the for what we're looking for in our recruits. She is an amazing teammate and academically she is highly motivated and passionate. We can't wait for our community to see what an excellent addition she is to our program!"

A versatile Middle Blocker and vocal leader on the court, Brasok is known as someone who gives her all to sport and school and is a supportive, encouraging teammate. Off the court, she enjoys the outdoors and spending time with friends and family. 

Brasok attends Our Lady of the Rockies High School in Calgary, where she will graduate with a Bilingual diploma.  She had the honor of being the Senior Girls' Volleyball team captain in both her Grade 11 and Grade 12 years. While at the College, Kayla will study Kinesiology with plans to eventually work as a physiotherapist, specializing in child physio.
