College of the Rockies Avalanche sign another Elk Valley recruit for 2022/23 season

College of the Rockies' women's Avalanche volleyball team has signed Alisia Dvorak, a 6 ft. middle blocker from Fernie, BC for the 2022/2023 season.

Dvorak, currently a grade 12 student at Fernie Secondary School, fell in love with volleyball when she began playing in the fifth grade. She currently competes for the Fernie Volleyball Club's U18 team, including at Volleyball Alberta Premier tournaments. A recipient of numerous MVP awards, Dvorak also earned a first team all-star award at Provincials in her grade 10 year and was selected to compete with the Kootenay BC team at the 2019 Summer Cup in Kamloops.

"I chose College of the Rockies because I have been involved in programs that Bryan has run, like the Volleyball Canada Regional Excellence program and have appreciated his coaching style," Dvorak said. "I also love living in the Kootenays and attending the College allows me to continue to live and play here. I'm excited to play with the Avalanche in the 2022/23 season."

While attending the College, Bauer will be enrolled in the Kinesiology program.

"Alisia has been involved in our local volleyball programs including the Volleyball Canada Regional Excellence Program and our own Women's Volleyball High Performance Camp," Avalanche women's coach Bryan Fraser said. "I've always been impressed with her competitiveness, work ethic, and ability to receive and implement feedback. I'm excited to have her join our program as she is not only an athletic volleyball player but brings with her all of the values we are looking for in our athletes."

PACWEST competition resumed for the 2021/22 season after the 2020/21 season was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The schedules for the women's and men's teams can be found online.
