College of the Rockies' women's Avalanche volleyball program has signed Madison Nordee, a 5 ft. 10 in. technical player from Kamloops, B.C. for the 2021/2022 season.

Nordee, a senior at Sa-Hali Secondary School began playing volleyball in grade 6. She moved to competitive play in grade 8 when she joined the Kamloops Volleyball Association, earning a spot on the High-Performance team each year since. She was team captain of her U18 team and as a starting player, helped the team win gold at both Provincials and Nationals. Nordee also enjoys coaching and is a provincially recognized volleyball referee.

"Madison comes highly recommended by many of her past coaches and teammates," said Bryan Fraser, Avalanche women's volleyball coach. "She is a powerful athlete that plays a technical position, which is something I was looking for. With her attributes on the court, she will bring a wonderful balance to our roster. She also has high academic goals and with her eagerness to learn and develop as a student athlete, she will fit into our team culture very well. I'm looking forward to working with her and seeing how far she can take her game."

Nordee will balance her commitment to the team with studies in the College's Kinesiology program.

"I have been intrigued by the women's Avalanche volleyball program for some time and am thrilled with my decision to sign with them," Nordee said. "This opportunity allows me to fulfil my dream of playing competitive volleyball at the post-secondary level and living in the Rockies will be an incredible experience. I'm looking forward to continuing to grow as a person and athlete."

All PACWEST intercollegiate competition has been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. College of the Rockies' Avalanche players continue to train in anticipation of the return of competitive action.
