College of the Rockies Avalanche sign Nanaimo Setter

The women's Avalanche volleyball team has signed Lexus Brown-John, a 5'9 Setter from Nanaimo, B.C.

Brown-John began playing volleyball in Fort St. John, B.C. in the fourth grade. She joined the Northern B.C. Volleyball Club as a U13, where she became a setter. In 2017, she was selected to compete in the B.C. Zone Championships for Zone 8, where her team won gold, and in 2018 she attended the Team BC Baden Cup.

In her grade eleven year, Brown-John decided to attend Brentwood College School. In her grade twelve year she was named captain and was awarded the Elizabeth Cosulich Award for inspirational leadership. Brown-John also played for the Iron Maidens Club out of Victoria for her last club season.

"I have had Lexus on my radar for some time and I am very please that she has decided to join our team next season," said Bryan Fraser, Avalanche women's coach. "She has a high volleyball IQ and a ton of athleticism and talent. She has some big goals set for herself as to what her volleyball career might look like and I am excited to have the opportunity to help her reach her full athletic potential".

While at the College, Brown-John will be enrolled in the Kinesiology diploma program.
