Ashley Huberts, a 5'10" outside hitter from Abbotsford B.C., has committed to the College of the Rockies Women's Volleyball program for the 2017/18 season. Ashley will be graduating from Mennonite Educational Institute (MEI) this spring. Ashley has been instrumental in helping her team win the 'AA' BC High School Provincial Championships the past two years. Ashley was named MVP in her grade 11 year and was a first team All-star in her grade 12 year. Ashley was also the captain of the team both years. Ashley is also an avid beach player and along with her partner they won the gold medal at Western Nationals and at the BC Summer Games in 2016. Ashley plays for the Airborne Volleyball Club and most recently helped her team to a 3rd place finish at the BC Super Series.
Ashley is very excited to join the Avalanche family and mentioned "In coming from an amazing school where community is a big part of her life at MEI that she felt COTR could offer that same sense of community and support while playing post-secondary volleyball". Ashley enjoys coaching and is looking forward to coaching in the community once she arrives in Cranbrook. Ashley is looking to take Arts and Sciences in her first year then possibly transfer into the nursing program.
