COTR Avalanche Recruit Dubai Resident for 2024/25 Season

College of the Rockies men's Avalanche volleyball program have signed Luke Margenau, a 6-foot five-inch middle blocker currently living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

"I am really excited to play for College of the Rockies because of the strong volleyball team and the great coaches," Margenau said. "I've grown up living overseas, and I chose College of the Rockies to reconnect with my family roots in the Rocky Mountains and in BC. I look forward to getting to know the community in Cranbrook and playing for such a dynamic volleyball team."

Margenau was captain of his varsity team during his senior year and was named the Most Coachable Player in Grade 11. He helped his varsity team to win back-to-back Middle East – South Asia Conference Championships (2022 and 2023). He and his club team were UAE National League champions in both U19 and U23 seasons (2022).

"Luke is a great addition to our program," said men's coach Cisco Farrero. "He has the length, athleticism and work ethic needed to be a strong PACWEST middle blocker. A Canadian living in Dubai, Luke will bring a different level of life experience and confidence than the average recruit; he's been a leader on both his high school and club teams, and I am so excited to add him to our middle blocker depth chart. Luke has an outgoing social personality, is a strong student, and is the kind of human being we want representing the Avalanche program."

While attending College of the Rockies, Margenau will be working toward his Business Administrative, General Management diploma
