COTR men’s Avalanche sign ‘battle tested’ middle blocker from Winnipeg

College of the Rockies' men's volleyball team have signed Winnipeg Jr Bisons' 6ft, 4in. Morgan Eby for the 2024/25 season.

Eby has a history of success. He was captain of the 17u club national champions, club provincial champion, Canada Cup champion, and school provincial champion during his career thus far.

"I chose College of the Rockies because of the team's electric atmosphere and skill level," Eby said. "I'm also in love with the location, I've always wanted to experience life in the mountains and now I have been given that opportunity. All while playing the sport I love with an amazing group."

Coach Cisco Farrero is excited about the potential Eby will bring to the Avalanche next season.

"Volleyball IQ and experience are qualities that don't stand out to the untrained eye in the recruiting process, but our program is always on the lookout for athletes that can process the game at a high level," he said. "Morgan Eby can do this extremely well. When it comes to high school middle blockers across the country, Morgan is as experienced, and battle tested as they come. The captain of the two-time club national champion JR Bisons from Winnipeg, he's performed well in a lot of really big moments. Morgan brings a workmanlike attitude to the court and always believes he can get the job done. His confidence in his abilities as a middle blocker and his attitude to constantly evolve and improve falls in line with our "keep climbing" team motto. He is also a tremendous student with lofty academic goals. I can't wait to get Morgan in our gym in the fall and add him to our roster of talented and hard-working athletes."

While playing for the Avalanche, Eby will be enrolled in the College's Biology and Medicine Pre-Major Associate degree program.
