College of the Rockies Avalanche sign another Swift Current talent

College of the Rockies men's Avalanche have signed Cade Schindel, a 6 ft. 2.5 in. outside hitter from Swift Current, Saskatchewan for the 2023/24 season.

Schindel attends high school at Swift Current Comprehensive High and plays club volleyball with Chaos Volleyball.

"Cade is someone that I highlighted in his grade 11 year as a strong, all-around outside who projects well in both the short-term and long-term for us," said Cisco Farrero, men's Avalanche coach. "His on-court skillset, high volleyball IQ, and coachability are all very appealing for our Avalanche program. Cade comes from a great high school program and strong club coaching. I am stoked that he's going to be a member of the Avs for the duration of his academics."

Schindel plans to enroll in the pre-Education and then the Bachelor of Education programs while at the College.

"College of the Rockies men's volleyball program has been at the top of my list for a year now," Schindel said. "Coach Farrero has shown interest in me from the start of club season last year and has made me feel valued by keeping in contact with me on a regular basis. He invited me to tour the campus and to practice with the team and I enjoyed being welcomed by the coaching staff and players. After also meeting with Academic Advisors and the UVIC Bachelor of Education staff, I realized this was a great fit for me. It also doesn't hurt that the scenery was unbelievable for this prairie boy!"

The College of the Rockies' men's volleyball team goes into the Christmas break undefeated, tied for first in the PACWEST, and ranked fourth nationally.
