College of the Rockies sign seasoned outside hitter

College of the Rockies men's Avalanche have signed Danny Martin, a 6 ft. 3 in. outside hitter from Parkside, Saskatchewan for the 2021/22 season.

Martin who saw success as part of the Saskatchewan high school provincial champion team in 2015/16, attended Augustina University, playing with the Vikings during the 2016/17 season. After four years away from the game, he is eager for his comeback.

"I am looking forward to being a part of the Avalanche team," Martin said. "I missed the competition and am very excited for the opportunity to prove myself again."

Though signed for the 2021/22 season, Martin began attending classes in the pre-education program at the College, and training with the Avalanche, in January.

"It's exciting to add a player like Danny to our program mid-season," said men's coach Cisco Farrero. "He is a bit older than our typical recruit and brings maturity, confidence, and experience to our program. He was a starting opposite for Augustana in Alberta previously, and if you combine that experience with his commitment, I expect him to be a consistent force here at College of the Rockies."

All PACWEST intercollegiate competition has been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. College of the Rockies' Avalanche players continue to train in anticipation of the return of competitive action.
