College of the Rockies recruit Brazilian outside hitter

College of the Rockies men's Avalanche have signed Diego Policarpo, a 6 ft. 2 in. outside hitter from Sao Paulo, Brazil for the 2021/22 season.

Policarpo is a two-time school champion in the city of Sao Caetana who has played both high school and club volleyball. Among his many volleyball achievements was his participation on the Sao Paulo State Champion U-21 team in 2020.

"I'm excited to add Diego as an international recruit for the 2021-22 season," said men's coach Cisco Farrero. "We hoped to add him to our roster this season, but challenges posed by COVID-19 made that impossible. He is an explosive athlete with great volleyball IQ and a passion for the game and I'm eagerly anticipating his arrival later this year."

Policarpo will enroll in the College's Kinesiology program in fall 2021.

"I chose College of the Rockies because I believe it will be perfect for my evolution as a person and as an athlete," Policarpo said. "The College is committed to offering a quality education and the city of Cranbrook is wonderful. Coach Cisco Farrero's support and confidence assured me that I made the right choice. I'm excited to do my best to help the Avalanche team."

All PACWEST intercollegiate competition has been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. College of the Rockies' Avalanche players continue to train in anticipation of the return of competitive action.
