College of the Rockies Avalanche sign Vancouver Libero

College of the Rockies men's Avalanche have signed Minami Watanabe-Glasgow, a 5'10 libero from Vancouver, B.C.

Watanabe-Glasgow attended Eric Hamber Secondary School, where he won four banners in as many years. He has also been a member of the Fraser Valley Volleyball Club for the past four years, winning the Kelowna Super Series with his 18U team. He was a member of Team BC Zone 5 and played on Team BC Red in 2018.

"Minami is a fantastic athlete that can do a bit of everything on the court," said men's coach Cisco Ferraro. "He's played multiple positions, and has played them all well. I project Minami will mainly fill the libero role for the team. With his love of the game, and passion to improve, I expect him to be a significant contributor for years to come"

While at the College Watanabe-Glasgow intends to enroll in the Criminology program.

"I decided to go to College of the Rockies because when I visited the campus I enjoyed the transition from Vancouver to Cranbrook," said Watanabe-Glasgow.  "I liked the inclusiveness of the community and the warm and friendly atmosphere of the campus and the people there. I took part in a tour of the campus and was impressed by the class sizes. Being able to be in small classes where the teachers are able to interact with the students individually was a huge factor in my decision."

The Avalanche's 2020/21 season is expected to kick-off in October 2020.
