College of the Rockies sign hometown outside hitter

College of the Rockies men's Avalanche have signed Aidan Peters, a 6 ft. 1 in. outside hitter from Cranbrook for the 2020/21 season.

Peters has played with the East Kootenay Volleyball Club for the last six years, receiving an All-Star award at the 2019 B.C. Volleyball provincials. He also earned three school awards for volleyball: most valuable player, most sportsmanlike player, and a leadership award.

"I chose to sign at the College because it has always been my dream," Peters said. "I remember watching the College team play as a kid and it inspired me to play the sport. The campus is very close to where I live and has the educational opportunities I want to pursue."

While at the College, Peters will focus on Kinesiology and Psychology courses in pursuit of his goal of becoming a Sports Psychiatrist.

"It is always our priority to recruit local athletes who can play at the PACWEST level," said coach Cisco Farrero. "Aidan is a dynamic athlete with a great right arm for the outside attacker position. As he learns the speed of the game and the nuances of the position, I expect him to be a valuable member of our program."
