PACWEST Volleyball is back in Cranbrook, as the College of the Rockies Avalanche hosted the Douglas Royals on their home court this weekend past.

The Men's Avs find themselves at the top of the Conference, after a thrilling two-match weekend, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4 and 5.

On Friday, the Avs came back against the Royals after falling behind two sets to one, winning the last two for the five set victory. The scores were 22-25, 27-25, 18-25, 26-24, and 20-16.

Saturday also went five sets, again winning the last two sets to complete the sweep.

On the Women's side, the Royals prevailed against the Avs on Friday night. After COTR took the first set, Douglas came roaring back, winning the next three sets. Scores were 16-25, 25-11, 25-21 and 27-25.

But the Avalanche came back on Saturday to earn the split with the Royals. They won the first set 25-23 but the Royals took the next two, 25-19 and 25-22. The Avs forced a fifth set with a 27-25 victory in the fourth, then finished things off the Royals in the fifth, winning 17-15. Finals scores, 25-23, 19-25, 22-25, 27-25, 17-15.

The Men's squad are at the top of the standings in the PACWEST volleyball conference, with 10 points on a 5-1 record so far in the young season. Columbia Bible College (3-1) and Douglas have six points, Camosun (2-2) is at four points, Vancouver Island University (1-3) is at two points, and Capilano (0-4) is in sixth place.

The Women's Avalanche are in fourth place in the six-team conference, with four points and a 2-4 record, behind Douglas Capilano (six points, at 3-3)) and Columbia Bible College (eight points, at 4-0). They are ahead of Camosun ( two points, at 1-3) and Vancouver Island University (six points, with fewer matches played at 1-3).

The Avalanche are in action at home next weekend, hosting the Columbia Bible College Bearcats.
