Avalanche Sign Julie-Anna Schaar

Julie-Anna Schaar, a 5'11" middle, from Stony Plain Alberta has committed to the College of the Rockies for the 2018-2019 season. Julie-Anna is in her last year at Memorial Composite High School and helped guide her team to a 3rd place finish at the 4A Alberta Provincial Championship. The 3rd place result was the highest in school history and only their second time qualifying for the Championships. Julie-Anna mentioned "It was great to make school history in her last season playing high school volleyball. " Julie-Anna is part of the Northern Alberta Volleyball Club (NAVC) and helped guide her team to a 3rd place finish at Premier 1. Julie-Anna will be taking the Kinesiology program at the College of the Rockies and is very excited to join the Avalanche Program and mentioned 'I've always loved BC and am ready for a new adventure."

Head coach, John Swanson mentioned "Julie-Anna was very excited to attend COTR and become an Avalanche after touring the college and practicing with her future teammates. "Having had the opportunity to watch a lot of video and live game play of Julie-Anna I feel very comfortable knowing what she will be able to bring to the collegiate level. Her experience playing high level high school and club volleyball will serve her well as she transitions into the college game". Julie-Anna will be another great addition to the women's volleyball program."
